A criminal defense attorney’s main goal is to help his or her clients survive the criminal justice system. Survival – that is, a case outcome that achieves the client’s rational objectives – requires that the client have knowledge of what lies ahead. Armed with such knowledge, clients are better able to make the critical case decisions that are theirs to make, and are better equipped to help their criminal defense attorney represent them.
This Survival Guide is a PDF pamphlet that provides a fairly comprehensive overview of the criminal justice system for clients who are unfamiliar with that system. It does not contain a recipe for success. It does, however, provide the knowledge that will enhance your likelihood of survival.
